A graceful herbaceous perennial with dark pink flowers that appear in the late summer. They attract pollinators to the garden and are low maintenance once established. Their spent blooms can be cut back after flowering, or left over the winter to go to seed. It has been noted that hummingbirds sometimes use the fluffy seeds as nesting material. Deer are known to eat the blooms, so it's best to keep them in a protected area. They can be divided in the early spring and autumn. Plant in masses or in a border.
We acknowledge with great respect and humility the T'Sou-ke Nation of the Coast Salish peoples whose relationship with these lands, now known as Sooke, continue, unbroken, to this day.
