A member of the bean family, it helps to fix nitrogen in soil. Native to western North America from southern Alaska and BC, east to Quebec. Blue, purple or reddish flowers appear in the summer, attracting pollinators. Deadhead after flowering to help encourage a rebloom. Flowers may need to be staked to help support them.
